I have a couple of photos of my two rams and I'm unsure whether they are male and female. The first one is the more timid of the two, his dorsal fin tends to be down most of the time, it shows much less colour than the second one. The second one is much more dominant than the first one, and he shows more colour and his fins are very much up all the time.

Thought I'd sign up on this forum for a bit of advice. I moved to Crewe at the end of last year and was given a 30 litre Biorb to mess about with, having no knowledge or experience of fish keeping, I tried patiently to make it into something good. I didn't know anything about fishless tank cycling and with the small volume of water, inadequate filter system and awkward tank shape, I decided to splash out on something a bit bigger.

I picked up this Rio 180 from ebay for not a lot of money, with a broken light bar and an old internal filter and began cycling using household ammonia until I got to the point that after 12 hours of adding the ammonia, it was being broken down by the filter. At this point I fitted a second hand 30w T8 bulb to try and support a small selection of plants.

During this time, I then found out about Rare aquatics in Crewe, couldn't believe how lucky I was to find you guys so close to where I live. I fitted the black tank background, bought some moss balls and some bog wood for some decoration.

I then bought a mixed plant selection from ebay to fill out the tank a bit more as well as a small selection of fish, including a pair of wild rams from RA, which are doing brilliantly. Shortly after this I moved house which included taking the tank down two flights of stairs, it was a bit of a logistical nightmare, but thanks to RA for lending me some containers and a fix box I managed the move without too much disruption

I decided to replace the internal filter with a much larger external filter, for aesthetics and efficiency. I've now also fitted 2X39W T5 plant grow bulbs with reflectors.

Thanks for reading, time to explore the forum now

As a follow up to my A. Cacatoides fry a couple of weeks ago, a pair of A. Borelli 'Opal' that I got 3 weeks ago have suddenly turned up with a huge batch of fry. They have been acting 'dodgy' for the past week or so, I couldn't see their cave entrance as they have dug it facing the back of the tank. They are in their own tank. They have been getting frozen foods and occasional spare BBS which seems to have done the trick.

My A.Cacatoides fry are doing well on bbs and micro worm plus whatever else they can find in the tank. I'll try and get some pics but its a bit dark in the tanks (which I think has helped them settle as well).

So i couldnt stay away from trops and decided to setup a 2nd tank to go with my reef setup.
Ive just setup a 125l breeder setup for dwarfs and currently stocking a pair of Macmasteri and 10 Celestrial pearl danios. both of these i am hoping will breed , id also like to breed Black Ven Cories which will stay small so hopefully wont eat fry.

DOes anyone have any tips to induce spawning? i know live foods such as daphnia will help as well as water changes. but any other tips , decor etc would be great.
